VK6RMS Technical Layout

Home

There are 5 receivers and 5 transmitters at VK6RMS..

VK6RMS houses...
  • 2M repeater 147.250 TX 147.850 RX
  • 70cm off air link to VK6RUF Roleystone
  • Packet 2M digipeater 144.850 MHz
  • Packet UHF link to Roleystone 440.050 MHz
  • Packet UHF link to Katanning  430.050 MHz

At one time a link existed between VK6RMS voice repeater and VK6RAW Katanning but all the linking equipment was at Katanning (off air) and not at Mt.Saddleback.

There are only two dual band antennas (amateur) on the tower.

The top antenna (2M part) is used by VK6RMS voice repeater.
The top antenna (70cm part) is used by packet 430.050MHz & 440.050MHz diplexed.
The lower antenna (2M part) is used by packet digipeater.
The lower antenna (70cm part) is used for the VK6RUF link.

Cavity layout at VK6RMS

There are eleven cavity filters at the VK6RMS site.

On the left is the voice repeater's duplexer consisting of 6 cavities.
In the centre are two cavities, one for the voice repeater for filtering against pagers and the 2 metre digipeater, and the other for the 2M digipeater also for filtering against pagers and the voice repeater.

The two large black cavities are the 420 - 440 MHz Duplexer for the packet link. Both these packet systems are duplexed onto one antenna, along with the 2M packet digipeater.

Behind the two black UHF cavities is a single UHF cavity for receiver filtering of the voice link receiver used to link VK6RUF from Perth to this site.
